NALAG Telephone Grief Support Branch - Sydney

Information, Education, Awareness & Support

In 1981 Dr Paul Finlayson, community psychiatrist, held a series of seminars at Hornsby & Ku-ring-gai Hospital. These seminars identified the need for ongoing support for people who are grieving. While there is often support and concern for people at the time of their loss, many continue to feel the need for someone to turn to, months or even years later.

NALAG Telephone Grief Support is a Sydney based telephone support service operated by trained volunteers who provide a listening ear for those wishing to talk about the losses they have experienced. All calls are confidential and anonymous. Where appropriate, callers are referred to community services and agencies.

Our Grief Support Services

The NALAG Grief Support Branch provides telephone grief support, awareness and education in the area of loss, grief, bereavement and trauma. The Branch outreaches telephone grief support Australia wide for the cost of a local call - costs higher from mobile phones.

The NALAG Grief Support Branch is supported by Volunteer Telephone Grief Support people. All Volunteers are trained in telephone Grief Support by NALAG (NSW) Inc. approved training program.

Cost

NALAG (NSW) Inc is a not for profit organisation. The NALAG Grief Support Branch provides grief and loss telephone support to all people regardless of financial circumstances.
